As an objective player (I think) of both games, I am setting out to solve the age old question (tongue in cheek): Which is better? Farm Town or FarmVille?

Land Expansions:

Farm Town: When you reach Level 15 you can expand your farm using coins; at Level 25 you can expand to a 24 X 24 Farm. After that you can no longer expand, and there are no immediate plans to add more expansions.

FarmVille: Your level and number of neighbors dictate when you can expand, and expansions are few and far between. They also cost more. The 24 X 24 expansion is still locked for all players.

Decorations, Buildings, and Landscaping:

Farm Town: There are a lot of options for decorating your farm. You can create 3-D effects and elevation by using the decorations available. Simply, there is a lot more than you do with your farm on Farm Town. However, will all of those options, it is easy to run out of land very quickly.

FarmVille: There are options for decorating your farm, but many of them are purchased with FarmVille Cash (purchased with your very real money). In addition, what you see is what you get. You can’t use your creativity to create illusions of elevation, lakes, pools, etc.

Harvesting, Plowing, & Seeding:

Farm Town: You can hire other farmers to do your plowing and harvesting, thus saving a lot of time. Hiring others is also what makes the game very social and interactive. However, when you hire someone to plow for you, you give them a portion of any experience points earned. On the positive side, when you hire someone to harvest for you, you get 25% more profit.

FarmVille: You can’t hire others to harvest, plow, or seed for you.

Ribbons and Trophies:

Farm Town: When you achieve trophies you don’t earn coin, experience points, or gifts.

FarmVille: When you earn a ribbon you get experience points, coins, and sometimes gifts.

Animals:

Farm Town: You can’t harvest your animals for profit. Animals can be purchased with coin, or gifted.

FarmVille: You can harvest your animals for coin. Animals can be gifted, bought with coin, and 5 of the animals are only available for purchase with FarmVille Cash.

Movement of animals:

Farm Town: Animals roam your farm freely, unless you freeze them.

FarmVille: Animals have a small range of motion, unless you set them to stay.

Trees:

Farm Town: Trees are harvested for coin. There are 30 trees available. You can purchase 15 varieties using coin; the rest must be gifted to you by your neighbors.

FarmVille: Trees are harvested for coin. There are 19 trees available. 2 varieties must be purchased with FarmVille Cash, some must be gifted, and other purchased with coin.

Seeds:

Farm Town has 26 available seeds, but they are restricted for purchase per your level.

FarmVille has 43 seed varieties, but are also restricted for purchase per your level. One of the available seeds is only available through purchase with FarmVille Cash.

Social Interaction:

Farm Town: There is a lot of social interaction with 4 different areas to meet and chat (Marketplace, Real Estate Office, and The Inn). You also interact with others when you hire them to farm for you, or you farm their lands. If a neighbor or buddy is on their farm, there is a green circle by their name, and you can pop over for a chat.

FarmVille: There are no common areas, or places to meet and chat with other players. Messages are exchanged by posting a sign at your neighbors’ farms.

Ease of earning experience points, coins, and leveling up:

Farm Town: You can increase your coins and experience points by working for other farmers, so if you work hard, you can move up very quickly. You also earn coin by visiting your neighbors, and by watering their plants.

FarmVille: The lions-share of experience points and coin are earned by working on your own farm. You can earn a small amount of coin and experience points by helping your neighbors

Convenience Vehicles:

Farm Town: You can purchase convenience vehicles for plowing, seeding, and harvesting. Fuel is gifted to you by neighbors.

FarmVille: You can purchase convenience vehicles for plowing, seeding, and harvesting. However, in order to get the fuel for those vehicles you have to buy FarmVille Cash. A small amount of fuel accumulates over time, but it doesn’t get you very far.

Number of items that are purchased with coins versus FarmCash or FarmVille cash:

Farm Town: The majority of the items are free. Some of the buildings and decorations do require FarmCash.

FarmVille: Many of the items premium (cooler) items must be purchased with FarmVille Cash.

Glitches:

Farm Town: Many of the bugs that result in getting booted (and losing points and coins) have been resolved. There is a “save” option that helps prevent loss, even if you are booted. If you save your changes, you can leave your farm and not lose your work.

FarmVille: There are still quite a few glitches that will cause you to freeze, and as a result lose your work. There is no “save” option, so you can’t do anything else until your avatar catches up with the farming.

Graphics:

While Farm Town graphics are more customizable, they are frequently considered inferior to FarmVille. Most players agree that FarmVille has better graphics.

My verdict: Farm Town is more user-friendly, challenging, and social. I enjoy visiting other farms to see the unique way other farmers have used the decorations and buildings available. It is also a lot of fun to meet and chat with other farmers from around the world.

Farmville – Why I Bought A Strategy Guide Book?

I am not really one of these hardcore online gamers – I usually prefer spending my time with my friends. Meeting them, partying with them or just chatting online. Still I have spend a lot of time on Facebook, checking out people, sharing picture you know the story. But last year FarmVille popped up and many of my friends started playing. Of course I got invited and this is how I got started in the game.

In the beginning the game look a bit funny to me, very simple and not like something I would do for a longer time. But somehow it got to me. I leveled up fast in the beginning, got some ribbons and of course had lot of neighbors that fertilized my farm. But than progress slowed more and more down.

I got the extansions so my farm got bigger but I had not coins of cash left to fill the space. At least not with the stuff I wanted. Who wants a farm that only has fields? Especially when you see all those nice decorations or vehicles that make your life easier. What made it even worse was seeing the updates from my friends. Some were leveling up constantly, their farm made mine look like a joke and none of them seemed to be obsessed with the game.

This is of course an option only available to those who are able to access the computers constantly or during a weekend.

Don’t forget about the other parts of a farm, like animals and trees. Ducks, rabbits, goats and horses can give a lot of coins. The same can be said of banana trees and pomegranate trees. You can ask for some of these as gifts – if you’ve got plenty of neighbors, don’t be afraid to put in a request. Someone’s going to reply.

If you find yourself with some money lying around, go with hay bales. They may be itchy in real life, but they’re good for five XP each. Buy as much as you want and if you run out of room, just sell them and buy more. It may not make sense, but it gets you XP so it is best not to question it.

There are currently seventy levels in Farmville, with the seventieth level giving you the title of World Fair Champ. Few people, if any, have owned out to such an achievement. If you keep at it and use the tips here, you may end up being one of those mythical people.

FarmVille Cheats in Speeding up

This is for the advance user who knows how to do this sort of stuff. I would not recommend the amateur to do this as this requires you to have some fair knowledge of memory programming and hacking. Use Cheat Engine to modify the speed.

FarmVille Cheats- The Gift that keeps on Giving

Try this though it may not work on every browser. Create an additional account (not your main one) which we call the giver. Using the giver account, right click on the “Gift” tab and then click on Open In New Browser. Open as many of this as you want. The, go to each open tab which essentially has the same screen and select the gifts you want. Please make sure you do that for each tab without confirming the selection. Then, go to each tab again and select your main account as the account to receive the gift. Again, the key is not to confirm anything. Once you are done,  you can then click confirm and your main account should receive these gifts. Since gifts=money at some point, you would have created a way to earn unlimited amount of money though it is probably not as fast as doing it the honest way of planting and harvesting crops.

FarmVille cheats in getting coins
This is not really a cheat but The trick is really knowing which tree and animals give you the best bang for the buck. It is usually good to just sell the tree once they have gone through one harvest. This is because the initial gifts does not cost any coin, but then it later takes up too much space and so selling them immediately allows you to make some coins on 0 cost and then save the time since it takes some time for the next harvest. Also, you get the most coins when you plant versus rearing animals. Just like stock investing, you really want to diversity as the plants takes different amount of time to grow and harvest. By planting several crops, it allows you to have almost a constant supply of fresh crops ready for harvest so you are not just waiting around for crops to grow.

You should also know that crops just grow whether you are in front of the computer or not. So, do know the timing of each crop as you need to be able to harvest them within hours or they will start rotting and you do not want to waste time clearing rotting crops.

Strawberries are the cheapest and grows in about 4 hours. So, you may want to start your morning sowing some strawberry seeds and then log in 4 hours later to harvest it. This is the crop you get started with when you start playing FarmVille, but it is not necessarily the best crop to plant since they can spoil very quickly which means you would have wasted all your money trying to plant the crop.

If you do not have much time to work on a farm, yet want a stable cash flow, you may want to make decisions on the kind of tree you want to plant. Fruit trees last longer and allows you to sell the fruits for money. The problem is that they take up space, are expensive to buy and the fruits does not sell for a lot of money. In other words, your return on investment is not the best here. However, if you do not have time anyway, this may be the best for you. Otherwise, you can also invest in animals where you can get milk from the cows, eggs from the duck, etc and make some small cash flow with it. Unlike crops which is time critical, food from the animals never really spoil and so you are not tied to returning to your computer to try to manage it.
